Put Me In Coach

Terry Gannon, nationally known sports personality, was a major contributor to NC State University’s 1983 national championship team. But as a freshman he rode the bench with limited playing time.

Gannon: “So, we’re playing Carolina, and Michael Jordan is just wearing us out, scoring at will, over us, through us and around us. Late in the game coach V had tried everything he could think of to stop him. So, I jump up and start pulling my warmup jersey off and say, “Coach, let me have him!”  And Coach V says, ”Terry, sit down. This isn’t Hamilton  Jordan (the politician) we’re trying to stop. It’s Michael Jordan!”
